Fixed Hunters
Found Hiders spectate.
MODE GUIDE
Basic, Increasing Tag, and Double change what happens after Hiders are found, how pressure builds, and what the host should confirm before starting a match.
The currently reported game modes are Basic, Increasing Tag, and Double. Older guides or players may call Increasing Tag "Infection Mode."
In Basic, the Hunter side stays mostly fixed and found Hiders usually move to spectator viewing or leave the hiding round. In Increasing Tag, found Hiders join the Hunter / Seeker side, so that side grows as the round continues. In Double, everyone prepares a hiding position first, then everyone hunts hidden copies of the finished Hider positions.
Found Hiders spectate.
The Hunter / Seeker side grows.
Players compete to find finished hiding copies.
The host should review the selected mode at the lobby settings stand before using Start Game.
The Hunter side stays mostly fixed. A found Hider usually moves to spectator viewing or leaves the hiding round, while remaining Hiders continue.
Best forA straightforward match flow.
ImportantA found Hider does not join the Hunter side in Basic.
Older guides may call this Infection Mode. In the current game UI, look for Increasing Tag if you want found Hiders to join the Hunter / Seeker side.
Best forIncreasing pressure and faster momentum.
ImportantThis is separate from Basic and separate from Double.
Players first create finished hiding positions. During the hunting phase, all players become Hunters and search for hidden copies of those finished positions.
Best forA competitive hidden-copy hunting round.

CURRENT MODE NAME
Increasing Tag, formerly often described as Infection-style play, is the mode to look for if you want the Hunter / Seeker side to grow during the round. When a Hider is found, they can join the Hunter / Seeker side, so the number of Hunters or Seekers increases over time.
If older guides mention "Infection Mode," they are usually talking about this Increasing Tag style of play. In the current game UI, look for Increasing Tag.
Found Hiders join the Hunter / Seeker side, so that side grows over time.
Current UILook for Increasing Tag.
Found Hiders usually do not join the Hunter side and are better understood as being out of the hiding round or spectating after being found.
Closest modeBasic Mode.
Older guides or players may still say Infection Mode for this growing-seeker rule.
Current UIUse Increasing Tag.
Double Mode is separate from Increasing Tag. It uses hidden copies of finished hiding positions rather than a growing Hunter / Seeker side.

If you want the older Infection-style mode, check Increasing Tag in the current MECCHA CHAMELEON UI.
This diagram explains the reported mode structure without copying official UI or inventing score values.
Basic is the most straightforward reported mode. The Hunter side stays fixed, and found Hiders leave active hiding for spectator viewing while the remaining Hiders continue.
The Hunter side does not grow because of found Hiders.
A found Hider moves out of active hiding.
The round keeps going for Hiders who have not been found.
The rules are easier to understand because sides do not keep changing.
Exact Hunter counts and other settings depend on the current host configuration, group size, and version.
Increasing Tag changes the match after a Hider is found. Instead of only spectating, a found Hider joins the Hunter / Seeker side, making it harder for the remaining Hiders to stay hidden.
Older guides or players may call this Infection Mode. In the current game UI, look for Increasing Tag.
The round starts with the initial Hunter side looking for Hiders.
The first discovered Hider joins the Hunter / Seeker side.
The Hunter / Seeker side grows as additional Hiders are caught.
The last Hiders survive against a larger searching team.
Hiders should avoid early discovery, because Hunters or Seekers gain momentum after the first find. This guide does not invent respawn timing or animation details.
In currently reported Double mode, players first enter the map alone and create a finished hiding position by hiding and painting. After that hiding position is finished, players can no longer keep moving or editing it.
When the hunting phase starts, all players become Hunters in active play. The map contains the scene, hidden copies of all Hiders in their finished hiding positions, and all players as Hunters competing to find as many hidden Hider copies as possible.
Each player hides and paints while effectively alone with the scene, then locks in a finished position.
All players hunt the hidden copies of those finished Hider positions and compete for finds.
Mode details can change, so avoid assuming exact points per catch, a fixed winning score, a fixed target count, exact round duration, or guaranteed tie rules.
Basic is usually the easiest mode to start with because found Hiders spectate and the active sides are easier to follow.
Use it when new players need a clear hide-and-seek structure.
Choose it when the group understands hiding and wants more pressure.
Choose it when the group wants everyone to hide first, then compete to find hidden copies.
The best mode depends on group size, experience, and preferred play style.
PLAYER-TESTED HOST SETUP
The player hosting or controlling the room should perform setup.
Look for the green pole, stand, or map-settings interaction point in the lobby.
Pressing E elsewhere may not open the mode controls.
Interact while standing within the stand's interactive area.
In the currently reported interface, the mode selection appears in the upper-left area.
Select Basic, Increasing Tag, or Double.
Confirm the mode before using Start Game.
Teaching Diagram Only. This simplified guide is not the official lobby or interface, and menu positions may change.
PLAYER-TESTED TROUBLESHOOTING
Move closer before pressing E.
Ask the room host or controller to open setup.
Stand near the map or room settings stand.
Close chat, settings, or another overlay.
Wait for the lobby to finish loading.
Review the current interaction key.
The label or location may have changed.
Recreate the room or restart if the setup point remains unavailable.
Use these checks first when a room or mode behaves differently than expected: confirm the selected mode, check the room settings, then restart or rejoin the lobby.
Where: Lobby map-settings stand.
Input: Approach the stand and press E.
Purpose: Select the round structure.
Where: Inside the map-settings or match setup panel.
Current player-tested location: Lower-left area.
Purpose: Start after settings and players are ready.
Choose mode first. Start match second.
Hiders survive because discovery removes active hiding. Hunters search carefully because the Hunter side does not grow.
Hiders avoid early discovery, while Hunters or Seekers try to create momentum with the first find.
Players make a strong finished hiding position, then focus on finding other hidden copies quickly.
Mode choice changes round structure, but camouflage, movement, map knowledge, and control skill still matter.

No. Double Mode is separate from Increasing Tag. Double uses hidden copies of finished hiding positions instead of a growing Hunter / Seeker side.
Basic is usually the clearest starting point because found Hiders spectate and the round structure is easier to read.

Move closer to the green settings stand, confirm that you are the host or room controller, close other menus, and review the current interaction key.
