How to Play Meccha Chameleon

A beginner-friendly guide to joining a match, understanding the Hider and Hunter roles, choosing a mode, building a disguise, and searching the map.

How Do You Play Meccha Chameleon?

Meccha Chameleon is a multiplayer hide-and-seek game that divides players into Hiders and Hunters.

Hiders begin with white bodies, choose a hiding position, paint themselves to match the stage, and use a pose that helps their silhouette blend into the environment.

Hunters search the map with a firearm and try to identify concealed Hiders according to the selected game mode.

How a Meccha Chameleon Match Works

  1. Join or Create a Room

Join an available public room or create a room for friends. A non-private room may allow other players to join freely.

  2. Choose Settings and Mode

The host may need to choose Basic, Infection, or Double from the lobby map-settings stand before starting.

  3. Prepare for the Round

The current player-tested interface may show body-model or character selection before the round begins.

  4. Hiders Build a Disguise

Hiders find a position, place the body, choose a pose, paint the disguise, and inspect for visible mistakes.

  5. Hunters Search the Map

Hunters inspect unusual silhouettes, color mismatches, shadows, movement, clipping, and repeated shapes.

  6. The Mode Controls the Result

Found Hiders may spectate, become Hunters, or participate in a different competition depending on the selected mode.

Best Beginner Hiding Order

  1. Find a Position

Choose the wall, object, shelf, sign, furniture edge, or other location you want to imitate.

  2. Attach and Position

Move close to a suitable surface, attach, rotate, and adjust the body's placement.

  3. Choose a Pose

Use the pose selector to reduce the obvious human outline.

  4. Paint the Main Color

Enter painting mode and apply the broad base color.

  5. Add Small Corrections

Sample nearby colors and refine edges, shadows, highlights, or object details.

  6. Inspect Before Time Ends

Check for exposed limbs, red overlap flashing, unnatural shadows, and obvious human shapes.

Need More Help?

Choose a Body Model Before the Round

In the current player-tested interface, a body-model or character-selection prompt may appear before the round begins.

Different models can have different proportions, shapes, and silhouette sizes. A blockier body may fit some hiding locations better, while another model may work better for narrow or irregular objects.

Shape

Different models create different visible outlines.

Size and Proportion

A model may appear wider, narrower, taller, shorter, or more block-like.

Hiding Strategy

Choose a model that matches the location and object shape you intend to imitate.

Version note

The exact available models and selection timing may change by version, lobby, or mode. This is not a permanent shrink-body button, and one model is not always better.

Why Is the Hider Flashing Red?

Repeated red flashing can indicate that part of the Hider is overlapping or intersecting with a wall, object, or nearby map geometry.

1

Move Slightly

Reduce how deeply the body enters the surface.

2

Rotate

Use a different angle.

3

Pan or Reposition

Move the body to a cleaner area.

4

Change Pose

Choose a pose that fits the available space.

5

Detach and Reattach

Try the placement again from a better position.

6

Inspect

Check whether a limb or body section remains inside the environment.

Overlap warning

Persistent overlap may remain visible and make the hiding position easier to notice. Red flashing does not guarantee immediate elimination.

Fix Wall Position and Rotation

What Makes a Good Disguise?

Remove the Human Shape

A matching color is not enough if the body still looks like a person.

Match the Object Angle

Rotate and pose the body in the same direction as nearby objects.

Hide Limbs Near Edges

Use shelves, furniture, signs, shadows, and object boundaries to break up arms and legs.

Sample a Base Color

Use the 3D eyedropper as a starting point, then test the painted result.

Correct Lighting Differences

Adjust brightness, saturation, or hue only when the test patch needs it.

Inspect From Another View

Check whether the disguise still works from a Hunter's likely viewing angle.

Beginner Hunter Tips

Look for Human Silhouettes

Body shape can be more revealing than color.

Check Red Flashing or Clipping

Overlapping body parts may expose a Hider.

Inspect Unusual Shadows

A disguised body can create lighting that does not match the object.

Check Repeated Shapes

Clones or several similar human-like forms may deserve closer inspection.

Search Object Edges

Arms and legs are often hidden near furniture, signs, corners, or shelves.

Understand the Mode

In Infection mode, found Hiders join the Hunter side. In Basic mode, they spectate.

Hunter ammunition may depend on the host's room settings. Some rounds may use limited ammunition, and the current HUD may show the available amount.

Practice Color Matching Before Your Next Match

Our browser-based Color Practice tool lets you practice sampling, comparing, adjusting, and painting colors without joining a multiplayer room.

It is not the official game and does not reproduce full movement, roles, poses, maps, voice chat, Hunter gameplay, or complete matches.
